This is a view of Mount Rundle from the approaching freeway. The peak to be ascended is clearly visible beyond the initial high point on the ridge. Mount Rundle towers 10,000 ft above the town of Banff and over the Banff Conference Centre.
Steve Stanley and Malcolm Byers on the early stages of the ascent, still below the tree line. Banff Springs Hotel and Sulphur Mountain in the background.
Expedition Leader and faithful sherpa, Alex Gonzales-Nakasawa, pause at the infamous pinch point at Mann’s base camp. One foot on either side of their feet there are thousand foot sheer drops! This is way above the tree line.
Ritual stops to read from the Congress Proceedings provide inspiration to continue the ascent.
Three expedition members, Ken Phua, Paul Wright and Steve Stanley (on right) finally conquer the summit, some even still smiling.
This is the view down the shear drop, behind the group in the previous photo. Banff town site nestles by the river 5,000 ft below
Back down in Banff after a safe descent. Some expedition members pose by the river falls, close by the Banff Centre.
